A transgender man in New York is suing his employer after suffering repeated misgendering and harassment in the work place.
Shine Williams, who began his transition 20 years ago, has claimed that he was discriminated against in 2010 on multiple occasions.
Williams worked as a cleaner on the Metro-North train which runs throughout the suburbs of New York City.
Williams claimed that the harassment began straight away when other workers complained about him using the men’s locker room.
The discrimination increased after Metro-North reportedly looked into Williams’ records and forced him to use the female name he was given at birth.
He claims that he was also made to use the female locker rooms and re do paperwork so that it used his former name.
Co-workers also allegedly used abusive names to address him including “he-she” and “hermaphrodite”.
Williams decided to take legal action when the situation reached a peak last October.
He claimed that a coworker who grabbed him by the crotch and asked him “How does it work? How big is it?”
The woman was arrested and charged with sexual abuse and forcible touching, however, Williams decided to take the legal action against his employer because he feels that they did nothing to stop the harassment.

Tristan Broussard was told that he would have to sign an agreement to act and dress as a woman while at work or else he would be fired.
A woman from Minnesota attempted to sue her transgender daughter to prevent her from transitioning, but lost the lawsuit.
Annmarie Calgaro sued her daughter, known only as EJK in court documents, in November after she revealed her intentions to transition.
She also attempted to sue the St Louis School Board, the principal of her daughter’s school, the director of the Health and Human Services agency in the county and two nonprofit healthcare providers in the area.
