Singer Clay Aiken says Donald Trump didn’t have power to fire people on Apprentice

Clay Aiken has said that President Trump didn’t have the power to fire contestants on TV series The Apprentice.

The singer, who was runner-up on the Celebrity Apprentice in 2012, made the comments on North Carolina political podcast Domecast.

He said: “Trump didn’t decide who got fired on Apprentice.

Adding: “NBC made those decisions.”

Going on, Aiken said the now Commander in Chief had what looked like a phone on the desk in front of him during filming.

But that it was actually a teleprompter which fed him information about the contestants to make it look like he knew what had happened during tasks.

Aiken went on to question whether the White House is being run in the same fashion.

He said: “I think to myself, the man as president definitely has a teleprompter sitting on his desk right now with people telling him, ‘Well such and such is in the healthcare bill, don’t say this.’ I feel like half the time his teleprompter has broken down as president and he doesn’t know what’s going on.”

But despite that, he added that he had always liked Trump.

“I always liked him. I imagine that in person if I saw him again today, I would be charmed by him again… He’s a very gracious person in person. He’s a nice guy.”

Gay singer-turned-politician Aiken back in 2014 lost out on his election bid in North Carolina.

If he had been elected, Aiken would have been the first out gay Representative from a southern state.

He caused controversy in September 2013 when he claimed celebrities who take naked pictures of themselves “deserved” to have them leaked.

He said: “Anybody who takes inappropriate pictures of themselves deserves exactly what they get.

“Of course whoever [stole and released the photos] should be hogtied. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have Internet security right now or the laws in place to protect people from pirating that stuff.”

Aiken found himself in a similar photo scandal in 2007 when a former lover provided the media with compromising pictures of the American Idol star.
