Britney Spears is returning to the world of music.
Her residency in Las Vegas is going to wrap up this year, after hundreds of sell-out shows over recent years.
The Hit Me Baby One More Time singer is going on a worldwide tour and is reported to be working on a major new Broadway musical.
The surprise return to pop has got the rumour mill well and truly turning.
Britney originally announced that she was doing dates in Israel.
It was then revealed she would be touring more countries and continents for the tour – sending fans into a spin.
Then her agent revealed that her Las Vegas shows would be coming to an end on New Year’s Eve 2017.
But what else is the Toxic singer planning to embrace?
Speculation has been rife about whether she will be performing at the Super Bowl 2018 as the half-time act.
Many were lobbying for Britney to take the slot at next year’s event.
The likes of Lady Gaga and Madonna have previously nailed the spot with huge mid-time shows.
Now headline backers, PepsiCo, have cleared up the rumours.
PepsiCo executive Justin Toman told MAC Presents founder Marcie Allen: “I can tell you it’s not Britney [Spears].”
“We’ll reveal in due time,” he teased, adding that performer “rumors always start around this time.”
It seems there’s no luck for Britney fans this time round.
She still has a string of other projects lined up, however.
According to Forbes, the pop superstar is set to pursue the musical when her stint in Las Vegas comes to an end later in the year.
Theatre mogul Jerry Mitchell – the man who choreographed Kinky Boots – is behind the project, saying he has met with Britney to discuss the proposition.
However fans hoping for an auto biographical tale, complete with the story of 2007 may be disappointed.
Mitchell told Forbes that it won’t be the story of Britney’s life, saying: “It would NOT be autobiographical.”
It won’t be Britney’s first time treading the boards, as she and Natalie Portman were understudies for the role of Tina in the off-Broadway show Ruthless! The Musical!
Britney previously made headlines on Twitter with fears of her death, before it was revealed Britney’s account had been hacked, and she was in fact still alive.
Britney fans will no doubt be delighted, including this superfan who did an incredible performance to Britney’s Toxic onboard an actual jet.
