JK Rowling takes Donald Trump to task for lashing out at London Mayor after terror attack

JK Rowling has taken Donald Trump to task after the US president lashed out at London Mayor Sadiq Khan immediately after the London terror attack.

Seven people were killed and 48 injured in the attack on Saturday night.

Trump responded first by promoting his travel ban, which has not been implemented because courts have blocked it, ruling that it would likely target Muslims.

He then moved on to criticising London Mayor Sadiq Khan – who just so happens to be Muslim – for saying there was “no reason to be alarmed”.

The response from a spokesman for the mayor was shade-heavy.

In a statement, he said the mayor had “more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks”.

Khan had actually said that there was “no reason to be alarmed” about the increased and armed police presence in London on the day after the attacks.

And like a teacher wearily disciplining an unruly student who won’t play nice with the other children, JK Rowling was there to tell Trump off.

Rowling, the first billionaire author, has won head-to-heads with Piers Morgan and thrown glorious amounts of shade at Trump and Vice President Mike Pence in the past.

The Harry Potter creator has also destroyed several Trump-supporting trolls.

She had this one handled.

It’s called ‘leadership’, Donald. The terrorists were dead 8 minutes after police got the call. If we need an alarmist blowhard, we’ll call. https://t.co/NUiy9j4fBt

She needs more than a mic to drop by this point. Someone get that woman a sceptre.

And she wasn’t done there.

Rowling turned her attentions to the New York Times, which said the UK was still “reeling” from the Manchester attack, which left 22 dead.

The thugs who mowed down innocent people would love to think of the UK ‘reeling’ but it isn’t. Don’t confuse grief with lack of courage. https://t.co/9MEUfPLnkv

If that doesn’t make you proud to be British, I don’t know what will.

She wasn’t finished with Trump, who often lurches between antagonistic, hate-filled tweets and staid, prepared public comments.

Rowling tweeted today that if he comes to London, she wants this hypocrisy to be exposed.

Rather than crafting placards, I think we should enlarge Trump’s London tweets so they’re on camera everywhere he goes to ‘show support.’ https://t.co/BvpdfBzSiA

I’d rather he didn’t come, but if he does, I’d like his vile Tweets juxtaposed against whatever he’s been coaxed to read off an autocue. https://t.co/mZvAWZ21BM

One of the men who perpetrated the attacks, Khuram Butt, was known to police as an associate of banned extremist group al-Muhajiroun.

The group’s leader is extremist preacher Anjem Choudary, who has called for gay people to be stoned to death. Choudary is currently serving a prison sentence for supporting the so-called Islamic State.

Another of the terrorists, Rachid Redouane, banned his daughter from watching TV for fear it would make her gay.

All three terrorists who carried out the attacks were shot and killed by police eight minutes after the van and knife attack was first reported.
