Gay Republicans who wanted to put drag Melania on a float banned from North Carolina Pride

A group of LGBT Republicans who wanted to put a drag Melania Trump on their float have been rejected from North Carolina Pride.
Deplorable Pride put a request in for a 27-foot-long float but were denied a spot in the annual Charlotte City Pride parade.

The group have organised a “peaceful protest” to take place during the parade today (Sunday, August 27) because they were not given a spot.
“Come and show your support for your fellow Trump supporters who are LGBT and are being persecuted by their own gay community.
“Please help us show that intolerance is not acceptable,” organisers of the protest wrote.

A co-organiser of the protest group, Brian Talbert, complained on Facebook that their protest had not received backing from The Log Cabin Republicans – one of the largest LGBT Conservative organisations.
Talbert wrote: “UNREAL! For the first time in LGBT Conservative history we are taking a stand against the liberal left.
“You would think we would receive the support of the largest LGBT Conservative political group in this nation.
“You missed a perfect chance for us to actually make a difference.

“So it leads me to believe that your vision is not the right vision for our future,” he added.
In June, Charlotte Pride released a statement which defended their decision to ban the group from the parade.

“In the past, we have made similar decisions to decline participation from other organisations espousing anti-LGBT! religious or public policy stances,” the statement read.
Pride celebrations are expected to draw around 130,000 people over the weekend for the festival and Sunday’s parade.
In San Francisco, LGBT+ activists rallied against a planned neo-Nazi gathering by leaving their dog’s poo in the park where the far-right group intended to meet.
The neo-Nazi protest was cancelled and LGBT+ activists gathered to celebrate.
