Gay of Thrones Returns to the internet as Game of Thrones returns to TV

A gay hairdresser and his clients probably isn’t what first comes to mind about Game of Thrones.
It’s not at ridiculous as it might sound though, with a long-running parody of the hit show also returning to screens this week.

As the seventh season of fantasy drama aired this week, Gay of Thrones also went back online, reviewing this weeks’ episode through Jonathan Van Ness explaining the latest episode of the show to his customers.
Alongside his obsession with the show, Van Ness also has a love of “top knots with intention and Ouai wave spray”.
The mixture is clearly proving popular, as the show has already been viewed more than 800,000 times.

Produced by Funny or Die, this episode also stars its creator Erin Gibson in the salon.

The three minute clip – which we must warn you is decidedly full of spoilers – also plays reference to other popular TV series, including Netflix’s GLOW.
The show has already attracted high profile attention too, with Game of Thrones author George RR Martin previously making a surprise cameo.
At one point, he berates his grandson for saying “I thought this was a story about a Game of Thrones recap show, with an LGBT perspective. I don’t want to hear about kissing”.
It’s not the only LGBT link for the popular HBO show, with Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor, previously coming out as gay.
Speaking back in 2014, he said: “I’ve never hidden my sexuality from anyone, my whole life in fact, and I’ve been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview, cos it’s not something you just blurt out. I’ve tried to lead the questions a few times, to no avail!”
The actor, who is 6 foot 10 inches tall (2.08m), later added: “Some people say I don’t look like the typical gay person, whatever that means.

“Obviously there’s so many different types of gay people, but some people don’t know that. Some people think we all look and act a certain type of way. So people have thanked me for that.
“I don’t want to be a figurehead or anything, but if I can help one person, I’ll be happy.”
The show also unveiled its first lesbian character in Season 6, as the sister of Theon Greyjoy is pictured kissing a woman before proclaiming: “Since it’s my last night ashore for a long while, I’m gonna go f**k the tits off this one.”
The new season of Game of Thrones aired on HBO and Sky Atlantic on Monday.
